I found the website which shows how executions are carried out in
Japan.
In Japan executions are carried out by
hanging and it takes about an hour.It is common to carry out execution 10 o’clock in the morning. In America, it is normally said execution is carried out in the middle of the night.
It is also said that the condemned is not informed when his or her execution will be carried out until the day it is carried out in Japan.
This is because the condemned who was going to be executed commited suicide the day before the execution in 1975. After that, it became customary not to inform the condemned the date for execution.
"死刑廃止と死刑存置の考察■死刑に関する制度について■死刑執行方法・死刑場." 死刑廃止と死刑存置の考察■死刑に関する制度について■死刑執行方法・死刑場. Shin, 1 Jan. 2010. Web. 7 June 2014. <http://www.geocities.jp/aphros67/030600.htm>.
I knew that condemned criminals are not informed when his execution will be carried out, but I did not know why.

返信削除Hi Kenta,
返信削除I'm glad to see that you cited the source for the information you posted. There certainly is a lot of detailed information about the death penalty on that page.
As I mentioned to you in class, be careful about the sources you choose. Try to find ones that are as trustworthy as possible and tell us why you think the information can be trusted. Geocities is a free (or low cost) hosting site and anyone can write almost anything on Geocities pages. The person who created the page that you cited doesn't show where he got the information. Also, by the looks of some of the content (e.g., how to tie a hangman's noose) the motivation for creating the page might be questioned. Is the person, perhaps, a "death penalty geek"?
I do not think it is fair to not inform them of the date they will die. I certainly do not want to wake up one day and be told that I will be executed.
